Judge Jules has accused a UK club promoter of secretly recording his set last weekend and this week apologised to fans for walking out of the club after just 20 minutes.

“About 5 tracks into my set, I found a hidden high quality MP3 recorder, secretly recording my set without permission,” Jules reported in a statement on his online blog.

“This is strictly prohibited by the contract, as earlier in my career I had a big problem with promoters secretly recording my sets and selling them, I can’t find a better way to explain things, other than saying that the promoter was totally taking the piss. I immediately stopped my set and left the club,” he explained.

The UK club stalwart isn’t the first DJ to find themselves in a compromising situation that’s forced them to curtail their shows, just check out ITM’s recent big list of Disaster Gigs, where we chronicled the perils of artists over the years who’ve been through the scary; being strong-armed by security or shot at, to the just plain insane; being punched in the face by angry Muscles fans.

What a wanker, unplug it and keep going. You're there to play for your fans aren't you. Keep going and then lose it at the promoter afterwards.

Funny how people respond differently depending who the artist is. If it was Tiesto or Deadmau5 the ITM crowd would be slagging them off forever and a day. Jude Jules? Good on him, he did the right thing... Just an observation... ;)

would've sucked to have been one of the punters though. 20 minutes into a bangin jules-style set n all of a sudden he leaves you with silence.

Yeah but the difference between Judge Jules and the Tiesto's and Deadmau5 is that Jules is a legend and has been around for ever, Tiesto is commercial boring, Deaudmau5 is a Deadmouse.

The contract may have been violated, but how devo would you have been if you were looking forward to seeing him play? Promoters should know better.

Praise tha Lord! Action Jackson - you hit it spot on. just unplug the recorder, put it in your DJ bag, finish your set, touch the girls, slam a shot - and when you see that greasy little prick that hooked it up, punch him in the face - after that, use all

Yeah even though Jules has been around for years, he should have kept on playing, like Nick Hiller said, just unplug the encoder, then have it out with the promoter afterwards and never use them again. It's the fans that he should have thought about firs

Understand why he walked out, but agree that he should have unplugged it and kept playing. In reality, fans are the only reason these DJ's exist!

Doesn't matter who the artist is they should have control over there own music !! And anyone one who says it isn't theirs is dreaming. That would be like saying Give Hernan Cattaneo and me the same music and see what happens. There is also the is
