Heart rates went rapid back in October when inthemix let loose an early rumour piece that those French robots in disguise, Daft Punk, would be bringing their fabled live show back to Australia in 2010, three years after their triumphant local debut at Modular’s super-sized Nevereverland. Although we were guilty of jumping the gun (and ready to admit it as well!), it turns out that we may have actually been right.
Yes, there’ve been some additional Daft Punk tour rumours this past weekend, this time on a larger scale, with speculation that a world tour for the French duo is in order, and indeed, there are two Australian dates rumoured to be on the list, the same two dates that ITM brought you first back in November.
The alleged dates, which have already been picked up by MTV, Prefixmag and NME, were leaked by a not at all dubious ‘source close to the band’ to Undercover, indicating that as well Sydney and Melbourne dates in Australia, Daft Punk will bring their epic stage show to New York, London, Manchester and Munich among other cities, racking up plenty of frequent flyer points.
You can check out the full dates below but we would naturally stress caution with these babies. Even though we know Daft Punk will be on the road to support the release of Tron Legacy in 2010, we’ve all been burnt before by rumours and tour fakeries, so eye them with a good deal of apprehension for now.
Daft Punk rumoured world tour dates:
07.30 Paris: Le Zénith,
08.01 Amsterdam: Heineken Music Hall
08.03 Munich: Allianz Arena
08.05 Dublin: O2
08.07 Nice: Parc De Sports
08.15 New York: Yankee Stadium
08.22 Sydney: Football Stadium
08.28 Melbourne: Olympic Park Stadium
09.03 London: Wembley Arena
09.06 Manchester: MEN Arena
