Swedish hack Euro-trance peddler Basshunter is certainly keen for his gob full of fame. After his single Now You’re Gone was driven up the charts by a soft-core video featuring a former ‘adult film’ star and a collection of well timed ‘leaked’ sex romp photos he has joined the cast of the loosely titled Celebrity Big Brother in the UK.

The man – known to his folks either as a family disgrace or as Jonas Erik Altberg – should have no trouble sending the British tabloids into a frenzy while he’s in the house with his Tourettes, much pondered move into porn and ability to drop inane quotes such as; “Having sex in front of the cameras might be a little intimidating, but I’d definitely give it a go. The pressure of performing might get to me, but I’d try and get over it by not masturbating for weeks in advance.”

Presumably Mr Altberg will be vying for the attentions of some of the house’s female company to star in his next attempt at record promoting scandal. His best option seems to be Nicola Tappenden who is on display across the nation’s butcher shop bathrooms as winner of the first ever ‘Page 3 Idol’ competition. Other possible targets could include actress Stephanie Beacham who played Luke Perry’s mum in Beverly Hills 90210, Ekaterina Ivanova, the 19 year old former girlfriend and punching bag of The Rolling Stones 62 year old Ronnie Wood, and the once-promising grime rapper Lady Sovereign, who now needs to be arrested to generate any tour coverage.. Luckily Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss will also be on hand in the house to help out in any conquests.

The other has-beens, hacks, wannabes and never-will-bes in the house include Thong Song rapper Sisqo; cagefighter/Katie Price shagger Alex Reid; Another Level singer Dane Bowers; actor/head kicker Vinnie Jones and the least talented member of the Baldwin clan – the god bothering Stephen Baldwin – who filed for bankruptcy last year. Boy George should be thanking the judge who prevented him from taking part in the show after ruling that it would violate the terms of his probation.
