As is the case with anything concerning those two much loved French robots, Daft Punk fans have been throwing a tizzy all across the internet for the last few days in the wake of the leak of what was allegedly a new track from the duo’s forthcoming Tron Legacy score.

The track in question, dubiously titled Fragile, was posted on a Daft fan site last week and quickly spread across the blogosphere with giddy listeners believing they’d stumbled onto a fresh new gem from the powerhouse group. Claims over the track’s legitimacy have at last been put to bed, with Daft Punk’s publicity crew yesterday stepping into to refute Fragile’s authenticity.

Of course, you’d think that by now everyone would’ve learned their lesson and would think twice before believing any Daft Punk rumour. Need we revisit the Australian tour hoax of 2009?

Anyway, Tron Legacy is only 11 agonising months away, so we’re due to hear from Daft Punk soon enough. In the meantime, check out the fake tune in the clip below, it’s a pretty convincing forgery!
