Talk about dreams come true, iconic UK electronica duo Leftfield have announced that they’ll be making a timely comeback in 2010 after an eight year hiatus from recorded activity and a whole decade away from the live arena.
The revered duo of Paul Daley and Neil Barnes broke the word of their return overnight to British outlets including NME and Datatransmission, revealing that they’ll be staging a live comeback at this year’s Rockness festival – which despite its axe-shredding name also features an array of dance acts like Boys Noize, Cassius, Soulwax and Friendly Fires – in Scotland.
“We’re been trying to get Leftfield to do some shows for years and now its actually going to happen” Rockness administrator Jim King said of coaxing the duo out of dormancy. “Ask any electronic bands who was an inspiration for them and Leftfield will always be listed. I was fortunate to see them live over 10 years ago and if you think the Prodigy are loud then you won’t know what hit you when Leftfield kick in,” he said of course referring to Leftfield’s numerous run ins with authorities over noise limits.
With news that they’ll be once again out there causing some dancefloor mayhem, the prospect of a Leftfield world tour has got us salivating vigorously. Whilst we get a mop, have a look at who else we want to see visit Australia in our Most Wanted Tours countdown and then check out the acts we know we’ll never see in our Dream Reunions gallery.
