It’s a Friday afternoon so what better way to whittle down the hours ‘til the weekend than by having a giggle at the expense of two warring US DJs from the wimpy alt-rock group Incubus, currently engaged in a verbal-threatening, restraining-ordering, mud-slinging bitch fight.
As reported by NME this week, the battle between former Incubus turntabalist Gavin Koppel (or DJ Lyfe as he’s known behind the decks) and the DJ that replaced him, DJ Chris Kilmore, has been escalating ever since a 2003 incident where the recently dumped Koppel reportedly spat in Kilmore’s face, with Kilmore consequently filing a restraining order on the saliva-sharing DJ.
Reigniting the bad blood between the two, Koppel reportedly approached Kilmore whilst shopping in Los Angeles on December 28th last year, raising his fists and threatening the DJ over the original restraining order.
“You will get killed if you don’t lift that order… people get killed in the street for that.”
Clearly having a working brain Kilmore filed for and was granted a permanent restraining order against Koppel, forcing the bitter DJ to stay 100 yards away from Kilmore and to also dispose of any guns in his possession. Naturally.
Whilst the drama seems to be all but resolved now, we’ll kind of miss following this ongoing trainwreck. Yes, we’re aware of the adage ‘to violence against DJs, Australia says no’, but ‘to violence against Incubus DJs’? Well, we shrug our shoulders and say yeah, sure, whatevs.
