Clearly recovered from his battle against Jager bombs, Kris Menace is back to work, teaming up with pal KoweSix of electronica outfit Moonbotica to create a brand new disco project for New York hipster label DFA Records. And as anyone with a passing knowledge of musical math knows, the sum of those parts strongly equals something awesome.

Dubbed Black Van, the new outfit sees Menace and KoweSix bond together over their shared love of vintage electronic music and Herbie Hancock jams.

The duo’s first offering comes in the form of Yearning a six minute synth epic, backed by an even more epic (if that’s possible) mix from Emperor Machine. Apparently, after a much-loved remix of LCD Soundsystem’s North American Scum, DFA mainman James Murphy stayed close with Menace and offered up his label services to release Black Van’s first output. It sure is nice to have James Murphy as a mate, isn’t it?
