Although he’s currently gearing up to bring his eclectic music tastes to the costumed masses at this weekend’s super-sized Playground Weekender festival, James Lavelle has been busy beavering away on a new studio album for his most celebrated project, UNKLE, and the good news is it’s almost here.

Entitled Where Did The Night Fall, UNKLE’s new album will be their fourth studio long player and naturally features a cadre of guest spots from friends and other musos including prized collaborator Mark Lanegan of Queens Of The Stoneage as well as Autolux and Celebration’s Katrina Ford.

The record is due out on UNKLE’s own imprint Surrender All and set for a May 11th street date, with the outfit promising more of their trademark cerebral electronica sound, intercut with lashings of psychedelica and a focus on live instrumentation. Sounds like something we want to hear.

And that’s just the good news. It gets even better with the revelation that Lavelle is planning to step away from the decks and take UNKLE Live around the globe for a series of shows in support of the record. Nice.

Peep the full album tracklisting below and Lavelle fans can grab the Playground Weekender set times from ITM’s festival page.
