With the chance of seeing a new Justice album this year rapidly decreasing and Uffie and SebastiAn’s respective records seeming like ever retreating mirages in the distance, Ed Banger Records has clearly been in need of something to sustain their 2010 release schedule. Well it’s DJ Mehdi to the rescue, who has hooked up with none other than Riton for a new duo.
Dubbed Carte Blanche, Riton and DJ Mehdi have joined forces for the new project, lining up a new, self-titled EP for release on Ed Banger in May, and potentially more releases thereafter.
Writing about the project on his personal blog, Mehdi explained described the debut Carte Blanche EP as “ready and banging” before saying that the motivation behind it was to take things back to raw, Chicago style house music.
International clubbers can expect a joint tour from the Carte Blanche masterminds in the coming months (sniff!) but the rest of us can cop the first track from the EP for free over here. It’s a deliciously simple slice of straight ahead house, replete with popping drums and cut up samples. And they’ve even called it In The Mix, obviously showing their love for us. Right guys? Right?
