Stalwarts from both corners of the UK electronic scene, the pairing of Portishead and Goldfrapp seems like almost a perfect fit, right? It would appear as though the respective groups think so, as news is out that members from the two outfits will join forces to oversee the score revision for the 1928 film The Passion Of Joan Of Arc.
As reported by NME, Adrian Utley of Portishead – err, the one that’s not Geoff Barrow or Beth Gibbons – will hook up with Goldfrapp’s synth expert Will Gregory to pen the film’s new score, which we can only hope melds the neon-embossed hooks of Goldfrapp’s work with Portishead’s stark fragility.
The pair of Gregory and Utley will be performing their new score live in Bristol as a part of a new screening of the Joan Of Arc flick on May 7th.
