As if it wasn’t an enormous enough movie already, James Cameron’s 3D epic Avatar is stretching its cultural stranglehold to the dance music realm, thanks to a nifty hook-up with self confessed ‘Avatards’ Cosmic Gate.

The heavyweight trance duo who rocked local audiences last year for Godskitchen’s gargantuan Boombox concerts reportedly got the call up about working on a remix of Avatar’s lead musical motif, James Horner’s composition I See You, and naturally couldn’t resist the opportunity.

“The week after we’d seen Avatar in the cinema we were both still dumbstruck by the groundbreaking 3D animation and the story of the movie itself. At the same time the press also announced that Avatar became highest-grossing film of all time. Then we received the request to remix I See You by James Horner. It took us a second to say yes,” the duo wrote on their website. “We were extremely motivated to do our best in the studio, with maximum respect to the original, but also with all the musical freedom we have received from Atlantic Records to deliver a remix in true Cosmic Gate style.”

You can hear the results of Cosmic Gate’s club makeover in the clip below and for more trance icons in Na’avi make up just check out our ITM does the Oscars bit from last week. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be running down the street in blue body paint pretending to be Toruk Makto. Cat hiss!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!

lol at anyone talking the 'glory days' of Cosmic Gate! Much better producers nowadays, and they did a surprisingly good job with this.
