Hey Upper East Siders, inthemix here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of dance music’s elite. It seems as though our favourite rodent-crowned Canadian, Deadmau5, has been a busy boy, capping off a successful trip to Miami’s WMC with BFF Tommy Lee with an appearance on none other than the certified guilty-pleasure teen drama Gossip Girl. OMFG.
Errm, in case that note-perfect imitation didn’t translate, Deadmau5 has indeed crossed over to the dark side of awesomely-trashy television, his unmistakable mau5-head popping up in this week’s episode of Gossip Girl.
Despite the high profile cameo, diehard fans needn’t get too worried about the producer straying from his dance roots, as his guest spot in the episode was as himself and not playing a privileged New Yorker with an unshakable bad boy streak like we were all hoping. Bummer. In the episode curious viewers can check out Deadmau5 DJing a hoity-toity fashion show and sneakily dropping in a few tracks from his For Lack Of A Better Name LP, including FML, Hi Friend! and Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff.
Fingers crossed this is just the start of a new trend that will see dance music stars cross over into scripted TV serials. We don’t know about you but we’d loooove to see Tiesto get a walk-on role in Lost, or the kids from Home & Away checking out Cut Copy down at the Surf Club.
Until next time, you know you love us, xoxo, ITM.
