Legendary UK festival brand Creamfields is just going from strength to strength in 2010. In just a matter of days we will all experience the expansion of the revered festival to Australian turf, and now word is out that Creamfields has been crowned as the best festival in the UK.

As reported in a statement this morning, the annual Music Week Awards issued the gong to the Creamfields team at this year’s industry ceremony in London over the weekend.

The Cream crew beat off some stiff competition (what a sentence!) from other British festival heavyweights including Glastonbury, V Festival, Global Gathering and Bestival to take out top honours, charging through on the public vote.

“We are thrilled and overwhelmed to win this prestigious award particularly when we were up against such world class festivals like Glastonbury and V,” Cream chief James Barton said upon accepting the award. “It highlights how far we’ve come over the last 12 years, and makes all the hard work worthwhile.”

For a taste of exactly why the long running European festival is so indeed so celebrated, just take a look through ITM’s epic History Of Creamfields gallery below, and then hit our festival page for all the Creamfields Australia action!
