Hip hop fans the world over have been in mourning for the late, legendary MC Keith ‘Guru’ Elam since the rapper’s passing just last month. After battling ill health and serious cancer treatment for many months, Guru died at the untimely age of 43, leaving on a bittersweet note with an issued statement taking shots at his former Gang Starr partner DJ Premier.
As the weeks have trudged on from Guru’s death, information and rumours have spread across the internet, with many fingers pointing at Solar, Guru’s most recent producer and confidant, painting Solar as the villain behind the conflict wit Premier and a pupper-master pulling Guru’s strings.
The most recent twist in this hip-hop soap opera of sorts has come with the online hijacking of Solar’s email and Twitter account by an incensed hacker who has been leaking emails and documents exposing some very dodgy business on Solar’s behalf to do with Guru’s demise.
Among the juicy little nuggets leaked by the overzealous hacker are email correspondences between Solar and various parties that present the producer as an opportunist trying to capitalise on the swell good-will that arose in support of Guru – in particular a list of artists ranging from Lil Wayne to the Black Eyed Peas that Solar wanted to work with on Guru material – as well as some nude photos of some groupies Solar was cyber-banging whilst Guru lay in a coma.
The most damning of all the documents are some more emails from Solar that seem to suggest that not only was the producer controlling Guru’s contact with his fans and family whilst in hospital, but also that Solar forced Guru to go on tour instead of receiving cancer treatment that may’ve prolonged his life. And then there’s also the part about Solar perhaps forging Guru’s deathbed letter which is just heinously wrong.
This saga doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon, but the best place to follow all the action and dirt-dishing revelations is on the (still hacked) Solar Twitter feed, solar_7grand.
