Rusko also adding his wobble to Britney Spears

Dubstep fans the world over got a wobble in the heart this week when news began to circulate across the interwebs that the current golden boy of the UK scene, Chris Mercer – known to most as the hitmaking Rusko – would be lending his formidable dubstep touch to the next record from infamous pop starlet Britney Spears. Uh oh.

As reported by a run of sits including LA Weekly and, of course, Perez Hilton, Rusko has been tapped to lay down some tracks with disgraced Mousekateer, Britney, for the singer’s new album.

Before dubstep fans go running for the backlash hills though, Rusko himself affirms that he’ll be staying true to his tried and perfected bass heavy sound, and not going all pop. As the producer puts it, this is what he’s being called in to do, lend a bit of credibility and edge to the record, just as he’s done with other recent collaborators like Rihanna and T.I..

“They approach me because they want me to do what I do,” the UK producer stated. “They don’t want me to make a cheesy pop record. I just want to be known for my beats. It’s simple. What you see is what you get. Bang! The music.”

So for those of you keeping score at home, it looks like the next Britney record will feature the production talents of not only Rusko but also the previously mentioned David Guetta and even Tiesto. Dare we get a little optimistic for this LP?

Rusko certainly treads a pretty poppy (and ridiculously fun) line in dubstep anyway, so it kinda makes sense. But still not quite David Guetta levels of make sense!

Sounds like it could be an alright album except that it'll be britney singing on it. :P

the only good thing to hit this album so far is rusko. there are some pretty good poppy dubstep remixes out there already, so it may work.

The album will be like Guetta's last release and Britney's last release combined. My maths says negative plus a negative equals larger negative. This will be an abortion.
