Klaxons are back, still sound like Klaxons

Having spent maybe just a little too long in the wilderness following their much loved Modular Recordings debut album Myths Of The Near Future, UK buzzards Klaxons have at last made their official comeback, revealing a new single online overnight.

ITMers might remember that some dramatic rumours regarding the band’s second album began to float about earlier this year detailing that the UK group were pushing their next record back for a Roland Emmerich baiting 2012 release date, only to have that quashed by a local label rep insisting that we’d see a new record before the year’s out. This new track, delightfully dubbed Flashover, is seemingly the first taste of that record – which NME reports will come bearing a similarly bodacious title of Surfing The Void.

You can check out the tune in the clip below and leave us with a comment with your thoughts. For our money, we reckon it’s still very true to what we heard on Myths Of The Near Future, with some extra percussion pounds (courtesy of producer Ross Robinson who helmed work from the likes of Limp Bizkit and At The Drive-In among others) thrown into the messy dance punk mix. Just don’t call it new-rave.
