Following his rousing performances on this year’s successful Future Music Festival national tour, there’s a whole lot of love for Pacha superstar Erick Morillo around these parts. That said, we seriously have no clue what’s currently on after a thoroughly confusing rant at this year’s International Music Summit.
As reported by UK dance crew Data Transmission, Morillo recently took centre-stage at the IMS convention, taking the opportunity to talk about a whole bunch of shit, including why he is worth his apparently “monstrous” price tag.
At the conference Morillo reportedly explained that the big hotels and private jets he’s accustomed to are deserved due to the “lonely long hours” spent on the road, adding that he does “appreciate that doing something you love and having one of the best jobs in the world is hefty recompense already”. Hrmmm…
Continuing to throw out a few curveballs at the summit, Morillo offered his take on dance music’s current boom in America, saying that listeners are flocking to clubs having tired of being “spoonfed the terrible TV and radio shows” going as far to declare “Las Vegas the new Ibiza of the States”.
Thought it couldn’t get any weirder from there? Not so, as Morillo continued to chat about his upcoming projects, explaining that he’s “caught the acting bug” and would be taking a run at a stint in Hollywood. Even better than that, he’s apparently partnered with hipster smut peddlers American Apparel for an upcoming collection of fashion merchandise.
Now if you’ll excuse us we’ve got to lie down for a while. Wake us up when Morillo’s new gig in Pirates Of The Caribbean 29: Ibiza’s Acid Nightmare is out.
