The results for the 2010 Beatport Music Awards have been revealed over the weekend, with that beloved Canadian rodent Deadmau5 dominating the winner’s list, and for the third year in a row receiving the flattering title of ‘most influential, relevant and forward-thinking person in electronic music over the past 12 months’.

As well as taking out the top honours with that inflated major prize, Deadmau5 triumphed in several other award categories, scooping the gong for ‘Best Progressive House Track’ with his I’m Not Alone remix, as well as winning dual awards for ‘Best Electro House’ and ‘Best Progressive House’ producer.

Elsewhere there some other obvious favourites, with the Swedish House Mafia crew grabbing the ‘Best House Track’ award for their tune Leave The World Behind while member Axwell picked up the nod for ‘Best House Artist’. Adding to the winner’s circle were other artists including Plump DJs, Boys Noize, A-Trak, Armin van Buuren and more which you can check out below.

Sadly there was no love for any of the Australian acts on the nominees list, so we’ll play the race card and say the whole awards show is anti-antipodes. Grrr!

Having the same winner 3 years in a row is a bit of a slap to the face of every other dj out there really..

Wow, just goes to show what a joke those awards are. I haven't heard Deadmau5 make a prog track since "Not Exactly", and don't get me started on how ridiculous it is he won the "most forward-thinking/influential" award either.

hahaha, well, thats a joke if ever i've heard one... deadmau5 hasnt done anything relevant or forward thinking in 4 years. i dont disagree with him being influential, he's been influential in creating a tirade of producers to make EXACTLY the same thing.

But being Beatport how are these awards allocated? By sales, plays or how much profit Beatport get out of each artist?

Chillin > i believe that nominees are selected based on sales in the preceding 12 month period, and then it's up to the public to vote for which one they like best.
