It was with more than hint of confusion that dubstep followers heard the news that venerable UK bass-star Rusko would be adding his wobble to the next Britney Spears album, joining fellow clubbers David Guetta and Tiesto in the pop starlet’s apparent dance music makeover.
Whilst we were all a little worried that the UK producer would be diluting his signature sound to pass in the world of mainstream pop music apparently those hesitations were all for naught as Rusko himself has asserted that he and Britney are conjuring up truly ‘dirty’ dubstep together.
“It’s a bit random, but I’m so excited for the challenge,” Rusko said of the collaboration in a recent interview with The Guardian. “I’ve already made one track for her with Alex from South Rakkas [Crew]. It turned out amazing and it’s going to be proper hard dubstep.”
The Britney hook-up is seemingly the next piece of the puzzle for Rusko who has recently made the move to the US, where he explains the dubstep scene is currently on the rise.
“They love it in America,” he said of dubstep’s steadily expanding popularity. “The American scene reminds me of how it was in London five or six years ago. The crowds are always hyped and excited, though you do get random audiences who are new to it; the crowd sort of stands there and chin strokes. They’re always dancing at the end though!”
Not stopping in his plan to freak out old school fans, Rusko went on to add that next on his collaborator wishlist is none other than the bat outta hell himself, Meatloaf. Huh?
“My dream collaboration would have to be Meat Loaf; his vocals are just on point.”
