The clubbing community got a little gift last year with the release of DJ Hero which saw amateur turntablists pick up the decks from the comfort of their own bedroom, with DJs from Grandmaster Flash and DJ Shadow to Daft Punk joining in on the fun. Whilst the time since the original game’s debut has seen some dubious imitators spring up, publisher Activision has announced that DJ Hero is indeed coming back, and that it’ll be bigger than ever as DJ Hero 2.
Revealed overnight at the annual E3 gaming expo, Activision rolled out its first look at DJ Hero 2, proudly trumpeting the game’s new features which include a new career mode ‘Empire Mode’ as well as a more thoughtful vocal integration for another player to sing and rap along while the beats get cut up.
Of course what we care most about is the in-game tunes that players will be mixing and although we don’t have a full tracklisting yet, the E3 reports can confirm that featured material will come from The Chemical Brothers, MSTRKRFT and Deadmau5 as well as left-field tracks from Metallica, Dr. Dre and even Lady Gaga.
As well as lending his tracks to the game, Deadmau5 will also appear in DJ Hero 2 as a playable character, with his big red Mau5head bobbling along very prominently in the game’s first trailer which you can check below. To get an extra look at the game and what’s in store for DJ heroes we’ve also put together a gallery of the first screenshots of DJ Hero 2 so make sure to scope those out too!
