They’re not two names you’d think to see together, but regardless of assumed incongruity news is out this week that beloved dance firm Renaissance has recruited UK buzz band La Roux to curate their next compilation.

Following on from Hercules & Love Affair’s curve-ball mix set from last year, La Roux will take over the reigns of the new Sidetracked series, putting together a mix of the UK duo’s favourite tracks, with a few new exclusive jams thrown in for good measure.

As you’d expect from such a disc, La Roux’s mix is loaded with big shouldered ‘80s tunes from the likes of Tears For Fears, Heaven 17 and Japan, as well as recent genre-hopping cuts from Kavinsky, Fever Ray and La Roux themselves who drop the studio cover of The Rolling Stones’ Under My Thumb which they premiered on the Bacardi Express tour.

“Me and Ben Langmaid enjoyed putting this mix together,” La Roux singer Elly Jackson explained. “It’s a really nice snapshot of both our musical influences. A lot of the tracks on here are songs we listened to while making our album set alongside some new stuff we’re into…”
