Hyped to the high heavens as one of 2010’s biggest record releases, M.I.A.’s ridiculously titled /\/\ /\ Y /\ is finally due for release today in Australia. Although the record has enjoyed a dream-run of controversy and buzz in the lead-up, things hit a snag overnight when longtime collaborator Diplo branded the LP as “a turd”. Ouch.

As reported by Hipster Runoff, Diplo took to Twitter to express his feelings on the record, responding to a fans question about a flushing toilet sample on the Diplo produced banger Tell Me Why, Diplo casually dissed the album, saying “cuz rest of album is a turd”.

While ITM’s review of /\/\ /\ Y /\ wasn’t exactly glowing, we didn’t go as far as to label it as a complete shitter. Maybe Diplo’s just cheesed off that some of his other tracks got cut from the record, as rumour has it.
