While Australians are well and truly into Monday and the start of the working week, over in Serbia we think there will be some punters still kicking on. After all, the annual Exit Festival will have only just wrapped up a few hours prior following a massive weekend of heavyweight dance music set in one of the event world’s most jaw-dropping environments.
As we’re always keen to stay on top of the global clubbing scene – not to mention we’re more than a little envious of those who were lucky enough to attend the festival – we put some feelers out to get some reports from Exit and you’d never guess who we managed to rope in to giving us a rundown of things…The Chemical Brothers.
“It’s amazing here,” said one half of the ‘Chems, Tom Rowlands, as our phone-lines clicked last night. “We’re pretty excited to play at Exit because it’s one of the few festivals in Europe that we hadn’t done before,” he laughed. “And not only that, the setting is one of the best I’ve seen. It’s in this big fortress, it’s cool.”
As for the set from The Chemical Brothers themselves, Rowlands spoke excitedly of debuting their new Further material to the Exit crowd, saying “it’s going to be a big show”.
“We’re playing later tonight [Sunday night] and we’ve got Pendulum on before us,” he said with a wry smirk. “There’ll be a lot of energy out there, but I think we’ll have some different methods of getting the crowd excited than they do.”
