Standing out like the great white whale of studio albums, Dr. Dre’s eternally-delayed follow up to 2001, Detox, has been in the making for a staggering 11 years, suffering push-back after push-back to a supposed release date this year. So what the hell has taken Dre so long to get this one done? Oh, y’know, he’s just been chillin’ with Justin Bieber.
The news of the master beatmaker’s fresh case of Bieber-fever comes this week from a report posted by Rap-Up, revealing that instead of chaining himself to the mixing desk to once and for all get Detox done, Dr. Dre was giving the fop-haired wonder-teen a tour of his studio. That’s a bad Dre! Naughty Dre! (*Hits face with rolled up newspaper*)
“Got to be in the studio with the legend himself Dr. Dre,” Bieber tweeted of the excursion. “Made a couple beats and he gave me some advice…i was hyped. can u blame me? [sic]”
Our heads hurt just from reading that quote. If hawking a few seconds of original music for Dr. Pepper wast a kick in the pants to long-suffering fans, then this is a sledgehammer.
