While we’ve been talking about DJs ditching their decks for live shows just recently, another trend that continues to pop up seems to find big club names making moves to the big screen as we’ve seen with Ricardo Villalobos’ eponymous documentary this year and also with The Stafford Brothers hitting TV screens soon with their own reality show. It’s time to add another name to that growing list with details emerging of a new documentary feature about Swedish House Mafia.
Due for release later this year, the Christian Larson directed documentary will chronicle the exploits of Swedish House Mafia threesome Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso on their rise to prominence in the dance community.
HousePlanetDJ interviewed the SHM lads about the upcoming documentary, with Angello describing it as falling somewhere in between a documentary and “a comedy”.
“We have had someone filming us for two years. He has worked on some amazing videos and together we decided with our new label – EMI – to make a documentary of up to this point. The soundtrack will be a compilation of all our own cuts and it’s a great way to look back at the time before we signed to a major label,” the group said of the film project.
Stay tuned to ITM for more details on the documentary but for now we can only think of all the antics the ‘Mafia dudes will likely get up to on screen…massive!
