As readers of this site will have no doubt discovered by now, inthemix is a base for the celebration and nurturing of true talent, designed to acknowledge and praise the creators of modern dance music culture and we’d never engage in some out-and-out slagging of something for the sake of it. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule and when it comes to DJ Girl we just can’t stop ourselves. This could very well be one of the most dreadful things you see. And we don’t just mean today. We mean ever.
DJ Girl first infected our eyes today with its almost too-bad-to-be-real trailer and from what we can tell, it is indeed an upcoming feature film about a, err, female DJ. The eponymous DJ is Royer Adams and the film centres on her quest to shake her ‘party girl’ image and win the affections of a local DJ by taking up the decks herself all the while staving off a jilted ex-lover and some trollop that never made it to Melrose Place.
You can check out the trailer for yourself below, which is neatly wrapped up with comical record scratches, mind blowing melodrama and a stack of likely unlicensed music. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you, DJ Girl.
Doesn’t this shit give The Room a run for its money, or what? Crazily, we’re actually intrigued to see how gnarly this trainwreck could be. Fingers crossed this baby sees the light of day and years of cult screenings follow. Remember, if anyone can prove them wrong, it’s Royer Adams.
