While us Aussies are turning our attention to this week’s big countdown with the 2010 inthemix50 another important DJ poll has gone down overseas, with the annual America’s Best DJ contest crowning a brand new winner.
Taking out top honours this year is none other than DJ Qbert, the DMC hall of fame-r and fabled turntable maestro usurping the crown from Z-Trip after coming second in the poll for the past two years.
“Skratching Lives! What a great opportunity to show that we DJs are musicians. Thank you to everyone at DJ Times, ThudRumble.com, and everyone for supporting the skratch art!” Qbert buzzed having won the coveted crown.
Coming hot on the heels of the vinyl pro was house heavyweight Kaskade as runner-up followed by A-Trak in third place, while Jersey Shore’s resident cement-headed DJ Pauly D beat out the likes of Mix Master Mike, Diplo and Derrick Carter to take the #8 spot. That seems about right.
Check out the champ in action from the 1991 DMC rounds below.
