The UK imprint that championed the careers of Sasha, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and many more, Renaissance, has reportedly gone into administration. Murmurs began to surface this week about the label’s strife, with the reports confirmed in a news update by Resident Advisor. London firm ReSolve Partners LLP is said to have issued a notice stating that Renaissance had gone into administration.

The brand was spawned from the Renaissance club in Mansfield, England, which earned a legendary reputation throughout the ‘90s. While serving as resident DJs, progressive trailblazers Sasha and Digweed kicked off the mix-CD series with Renaissance: The Mix Collection.

Since then, the Renaissance label has continued to turn out regular mixes packaged with a now-iconic aesthetic. While its roots have been solidly in progressive, recent mixes has come from the likes of Gui Boratto, M.A.N.D.Y. and even La Roux, whose recent Sidetracked compilation may prove to be an unlikely final chapter to Renaissance as we know it.

Earlier this year, embattled distributor Stomp dropped Renaissance from its distribution roster, meaning that copies of the compilations had to be ordered from the UK.
