As well as being some innovators of the global dance scene and later this month returning to Australia for some party action on the Parklife festival tour, we now have another reason to love British twosome Groove Armada, namely that they want to beat the shit out of ever-present rockers Kings Of Leon.
Squatting down for some filthy gossip on this Thursday morning, the news comes from good ol’ NME who reported that Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay almost got into a brawl with KOL drummer Nathan Followill backstage at V Festival UK last month after Findlay flipped the bird to the US stadium rock crew. According to the Groove Armada man, he was sent a little loco when the Kings’ security prevented him from entering Groove Armada’s own dressing room.
“I gave the worldwide one-fingered sign of dislike as the [band’s] cars went past,” Findlay explained. “The last one stopped, the drummer got out making ‘come on then’-type gestures. I said, ‘Come on then’ and he went back behind his bodyguards and said ‘I want them removed’.”
Whilst it’s unlikely that the electronic legends will run into similar problems when they hit Parklife in a matter of weeks, there’s a part of us that hopes this goes the route of a conventional rap-beef and the two sides start warring with diss tracks directed at each other. First up, a Groove Armada bootleg called Bruise Somebody. Boom-tish! Ah…we were leaving anyway.
