Having spent a good year or two now off in the wilderness and dodging Luke Steele’s calls, Pnau and Empire Of The Sun mainman Nick Littlemore will be sneaking back into the spotlight for his next other-worldly side project.
As reported by The Music Network, Littlemore has teamed up with ‘mentor’ and current recording sugar-daddy Elton John to make good on the talk of the Australian production powerhouse working with renowned performance troupe Cirque du Soleil, with Littlemore set to pen the score for a June 2011 production premiering in New York.
According to reports from Cirque camp, Littlemore will serve as composer and music director for the unnamed production, which will apparently follow the “trauma of a magician who loses his magic after he loses his love. As he pleads with the gods to help him, he is plunged into a world inhabited by surreal creatures.” Yep, sounds like Nick!
When reached for comment about Littlemore’s ascension into the big tent of Cirque du Soleil, former partner Luke Steele announced his plans to “build his own circus, with blackjack and hookers” before trudging away and kicking an empty can down the street while a sad trombone played in the distance. (N.B. none of this happened)
