While the group’s triumphant sets at Parklife over the last two weeks were said to be Australian fans’ last chance to ever see them play as GA Live, it looks as though we’ll still be able to enjoy the Groove Armada live experience as the big British duo have announced plans to release a new album of live cuts. And it’s coming this week!
Set for release on Friday October 8th, Groove Armada’s White Light finds the duo reworking tunes from their most recent record Black Light (geddit?) in the style of their sweaty live show with livewire vocalist Saint Saviour. The LP will also feature a new jam, 1980.
“It began as Black Light. Then it was recut, reworked and enlarged for a festival season that began at Glastonbury, crossed Europe, took in Japan, and ended in Moscow,” Data Transmission quoted the band’s Tom Findlay as saying. “Now these king size live versions have been taken back to the studio and re-recorded. Black Light has become White Light.”
The LP release caps off a busy period for the pioneering electronic crew who not only won points for scrapping with Kings of Leon but also dusted off the trainers to represent the festival as a part of the Parklife All-Stars soccer team.
