It’s all but two months until Australian fans are at last treated to the full Gorillaz live experience – we’ll try to forget that misguided Gorillaz Sound System experiment… – with a cast of big name guests including Bobby Womack, De La Soul and Little Dragon tagging along for the ride. But before then, the Damon Albarn led supergroup will throw a suitably massive concert at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden.
Touching down this Friday October 8th, Gorillaz will bring their epic Escape To Plastic Beach spectacle to NYC’s hallowed venue, announcing yesterday that the bash would be even bigger for the inclusion of superstar vocalists Mos Def and Lou Reed, both of whom contributed to Plastic Beach. It’s enough to make us a little jealous that we’ll only just miss out on Mos Def’s summer tour overlapping with the cartoon super-band’s own dates.
As if to make up for it, the Gorillaz gang have gone and dropped a surprise single on us all, which you can hear in the clip below. Featuring UK siren Daley, Doncamatic (All Played Out) plays like a futuristic cousin to the gems on Plastic Beach and is just plainly pretty great.
