Because there’s nothing better than a cockle warming story for a Friday afternoon, here’s news that beloved 69 year-old Ruth Flowers, who ITMers will know better by her DJ alter ego Mamy Rock, has successfully breached the US dance circuit, playing her debut festival set over in the ‘States to a rapturous audience.

Following on from her rise to internet-infamy, the DJ granny was interviewed by BBC News before her stateside show, explaining her dive into the dance music ocean with a sweetly old voice that’s more Earl Grey than EDM.

“I know music, but I knew nothing about ‘electro rock’, may I tell you. I’d never even been interested in ‘electro rock’. So I had to learn. And I can appreciate it now because the beat is so good,” she said. “And the kids love it.” Bless her sweater knitting heart.
