Back in November, inthemix learnt that in 2011 we’ll be treated to Fabric and Fabriclive mix-CDs from DJ Marky, Derrick Carter, Agoria and Ramadanman. Kicking off that list is Fabriclive 55: DJ Marky, which lands on local shelves right in the midst of the drum & bass don’s Australian tour. On his volume for the London club’s Friday night staple, he tears through 24 tracks from the likes of Calibre, Klute, Commix and of course his own studio.

“When I got offered to work with fabric, the first thing I asked was; ‘When do I get to do a CD?’,” says Marky in the press notes. “There are so many people that I love who have done them. Within a day of being asked to do the mix, I’d recorded it. It’s so important to me and for my career; fabric is famous all around the world and since my first Marky & Friends event here, it’s been brilliant.”

In March, jackin’ house veteran Derrick Carter will step up for Fabric 56, following Shackleton’s brooding 55th edition at the tail-end of 2010. From the looks of the tracklist, Carter has his sights set squarely on the dancefloor, putting his own spin on a host of surefire tracks. Two very different mixes, then, but both well worth keeping an eye out for.
