Considering how jazzed we were about Daft Punk’s turn as score composers for Disney’s 3D mega-pic Tron Legacy, we’re again pretty excited to hear the news that another big dance duo will be taking the plunge and soundtracking a feature film.
The duo in question this time around is British electronic boffins Basement Jaxx, last seen out in Australia for some DJ dates over New Year’s. According to The Guardian Basement Jaxx will helm the score for the upcoming sci-fi feature Attack The Block which we seriously hope is an adaptation of a long lost Commodore 64 game.
The UK paper cites Scott Pilgrim director Edgar Wright as the source of the news who took to Twitter to announce that he’d “heard some of Basement Jaxx’s score for Joe Cornish’s Attack The Block yesterday…still humming it today. #GoodStuff.”
The film, said to be released this April, is a skewed take on invasion films pitting Aliens against British ‘yobs’. Colour us intrigued.
