Following on from the first batch of names revealed this month, Serbia’s fabled EXIT Festival has upped the stakes for its July 2011 return. UK trip hop originals Portishead are set to take the stage in the Petrovaradin fortress for what’s sure to be a shivers-down-the-spine kind of show.
The band has been quiet since the release of 2008’s Third, their first album in 11 years, but new material with a no-nonsense manifesto is brewing. It certainly will be something to hear the haunting voice of Beth Gibbons under the stars in a Serbian castle – you know, everyday stuff.
Portishead, Tiga and James Zabiela are merely the tip of the EXIT iceberg. The completed line-up will amount to over 400 acts on 20 stages, including the gargantuan Dance Arena. Expect some big names still to come for that corner of the festival.
