In 2011, Carl Craig’s iconic imprint Planet E will celebrate its 20th anniversary under the banner 20 F@#&ING Years – We Ain’t Dead Yet. The Detroit legend is set to release a best-of compilation in February featuring his own work alongside labelmates like Recloose, Martin Buttrich and Basic Channel. For the true believers, a vinyl box set will follow in June.

A press release from the label confirms that C2 is also set to take Planet E on tour throughout 2011. Beginning in March with stops in Berlin, London, Miami and Paris, his guests will include Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Seth Troxler, Radio Slave, Richie Hawtin and more top-tier techno names. The Planet E boss of course has a ‘laptop supergroup’ Narod Niki alongside Villalobos, Luciano, Hawtin and Zip, which might get a run in some form. Intriguingly, the press notes also reveal that the tour “will will continue the whole of 2011 and will include USA, Japan, Australia, South America and more”.

Memories of Carl Craig’s classics-filled sets on the D25 tour will still be fresh in the minds of Sydney and Melbourne fans, so the prospect of a Planet E showcase is surely a welcome one. We wait in hope!
