Reality TV and dance music have had a rather rocky relationship of late, with the idiot box plundering the EDM community with embarrassing X-Factor performances and even giving The Stafford Brothers their own show. The latest cab off the rank comes from Holland and is called IAMDJ, a Next Top Model-style reality competition set to find the next generation of great Dutch DJs.

While the only information we can find on IAMDJ is in Dutch, a dodgy web translation of that page reveals a little bit about the premise of the show, pitting 10 aspiring Dutch DJs (five male and five female or ‘maidservants’ in Bablefish) against each other until an eventual winner is crowned as the most talented DJ. The contestants will room together in a house which doubles as a professional studio and each week will be tasked with challenges which from the translation include producing tracks, sampling and more.

Although it feels a little rinky-dink, IAMDJ will feature some high-profile guest talent with star DJs like Marco V, Hardwell and DJ Jean said to appear on the show as judges/mentors. That should give you an indication of the taste divide that IAMDJ will likely cross so it’ll be interesting to see what kind of amateur DJs turn out to take part in the reality TV contest.

What do you reckon? Would something like this be worth watching? Do you wish we had a DJ reality show of our very own here in Australia? Talk it up in the comments box below and to see our collection of reality TV-meets EDM blunders check out this gallery.
