Australian fans should consider themselves especially lucky for having the chance to catch Faithless live on the Good Vibrations festival tour earlier in the year as it turns out it was the band’s final ever visit to the country, with vocalist and group mainstay Maxi Jazz announcing overnight that Faithless are finished.

After some 15 years and six albums together, Faithless have called it quits according to a statement from Maxi released online while the southern hemisphere slept. According to Maxi himself, it wasn’t ‘creative differences’ or any Yoko Ono types that have caused the split, rather he, Sister Bliss and Rollo Armstrong had come to the conclusion that they had achieved all they could with Faithless.

“After 15 years(!) and six albums(!!) I think we’ve probably made our collective point by now and that it’s time to close the book and return to the library,” Maxi’s message to fans read. “We’ve had, with you, the most unbelievable, epic and moving experience, stretching over years and tens of thousands of miles…joyful, exhilarating and empowering, we never for a moment thought an affair could last this long. Or be this powerful. Never thought for a moment that the end of this journey would be left to us either.”

The letter continues in such a fashion with nothing but love and gratitude spilling from Maxi’s fingers for all the fans that have been behind the band over their career.

“The album The Dance Never Ends was written and produced for you, as a thank you, but also as a goodbye. The tour schedule has been particularly hectic as we attempt to visit as many territories as there are people who wanna see us. And say thank you. If I devoted the rest of my life to the task, I could NEVER thank you enough. I have memories that will still be with me in my next life. But, like when writing a song, you always just ‘know’ when it’s finished…this is and was the ‘Thank YOU And Goodbye’ tour and to be truthful, I really hope you just pick up the ball of your life and RUN WITH IT!”

While Maxi makes moves towards his true calling as a motivational speaker fans can now look back on the reign of Faithless and their summer farewell to Australian fans knowing that the band’s place in the annals of dance music are assured.
