Having spent plenty of time as the right hand man to David Guetta it was only a matter of time before French synth tragic Joachim Garraud got a serious case of collaboration-fever. But where Guetta’s path was with pop music’s ‘in’ crowd, Garraud has struck up an artistic partnership with Jane’s Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza figurehead Perry Farrell.
Speaking to MTV recently, Garraud talked up his union with the Splendour In The Grass-bound Jane’s Addiction leader saying that he Farrell had been blown away by one his live shows last year and demanded they collaborate on new material.
“When Perry saw my set at Lollapalooza Chicago last summer, he was shocked,” Garraud said. “So [he] came to me and was like, ‘okay I want exactly the same. You have to produce tracks for me and produce video and produce the show’.”
The partnership had an official live airing at Lollapalooza Chile earlier this year and will presumably develop into a proper release soon enough.
“We’ve produced 12 tracks together, and all the tracks are very cool, because the lyrics are so cool,” Garraud offered. “He sings all of the tracks with his heart, so they’re very beautiful tracks, and on the dance floor, it’s very, very powerful.”
Check out a video from the Chile show that we were able to find to see some of Garraud’s trademark quirkiness and pounding beats.
