While Insomniac’s annual Electric Daisy Carnival festival has moved operations for its 2011 instalment out to Las Vegas, fellow Los Angeles promoters Hard are staying on their usual stomping ground, announcing the lineup for this August’s Hard Summer bash, and it’s enough to make an electro fan weak at the knees.
Once again showing their gift for selecting monster lineups full of both DJs and live acts, this year’s Hard Summer festival will see an influx of big names led by the likes of Boys Noize, Duck Sauce, Ratatat, Chromeo, Carte Blanche, Gesaffelstein and a horde of bass-blasting DJs like Skrillex, Nero, Noisia and Jack Beats. Also on the lineup is German electro act Digitalism, returning to the live stage with a bunch of new material, the first of which you can grab as a free download right here on ITM.
While it’s a predominantly banging affair the festival does come with its fair share of surprises including the presence of Sydney Opera House bound rap-rebels Odd Future and a whole tent of DFA branded acts including [aa.artistHoly Ghost!], Shit Robot, Still Going and surviving LCD Soundsystem disco doyens James Murphy and Pat Mahoney. And we have to give a special shout out to Aussie lad Acid Jacks for making the cut!
