Having recently stage-dived his way around Australia with the Creamfields tour, much talked-about producer Skrillex has now returned the other side of the world. The divisive dubstepper is in London working on his forthcoming album and getting warmed up for the massive Deadmau5 & Friends show on 12 June in Victoria Park.

With his star continuing to rise and an ever-mounting schedule of festival dates over the coming Northern summer, Skrillex has been working on a new platform for his full-throttle sets. Speaking to inthemix.tv backstage at Creamfields, he told us how he’s building a stage show to rival Deadmau5’s Rubik’s Cube (“It’s not a mouse head or anything like that,” he joked). Instead, his plan is to go all motion-capture on his fans. Wacky as it sounds, it’s certainly original.

“I’m using motion-capture,” he revealed. “You know in movies when they use CG, they actually have people wearing infra-red sensors. So however I move I’m going to have giant 3D projections, like image-mapping. Monsters, skeletons and robots moving how I move. So that’s what’s in development right now, which should be very cool.”

As anyone who witnessed Skrillex in action around the country last month will tell you, those 3D projections might have a hard time keeping up with him. If you haven’t seen the ‘Skrillcam’ video from Creamfields in Sydney yet, watch it below. Here’s hoping Skrillex will be stepping into his Gollum suit on a festival stage here in the not-too-distant future.
