Just this year Australian music lovers have enjoyed some little slices of history with both [aa.aritst:Primal Scream] and just now Gary Numan touring the country and performing some of their milestone records in their entirety, but even that’s not going to stop us being envious about what’s going down at the Rock The Bells festival in the US later in 2011.
As reported by Pitchfork, Stateside hip hop fans are in for a treat with the travelling Rock The Bells festival, which for its August through September tour has assembled a killer lineup of urban talent to perform some rap and hip hop classics in full.
At the top of this year’s list is Nas with the nasty one doing his seminal Illmatic LP from start to finish. He’ll be joined by Lauryn Hill performing The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Mos Def and [Talib Kweli] doing Black Star, Mobb Deep doing The Infamous, Cypress Hill working through Black Sunday and a big presence of Wu-Tang Clan records with GZA doing Liquid Swords, Masta Killa doing his solo LP No Said Date and both Raekwon and Ghostface Killah combining for Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. Crazy, right?
The festival is also bumped out with some ‘regular’ sets from rappers and singer alike with Curren$y, Childish Gambino and Erykah Badu on the bill.
