Following on from the reworked version of his seminal Goa Mix earlier this year comes Paul Oakenfold’s latest foray into the mixed compilation field with the upcoming Never Mind The Bullocks…Here’s Paul Oakenfold.

While conventional mix CDs from big DJ stars isn’t exactly ground breaking news, Oakey’s latest effort not only punk in name with that Sex Pistols riffing title that demands attention but it’s also punk at heart with the UK don billing this new mix as a “two fingered salute to all industry politics” and a “complete focus of all energies on the music and nothing else”.

Though we won’t be the ones to spoil the party and point out that the un-political mix includes 13 Perfecto branded tracks (…oops) the mix does indeed look pretty sprawling with Oakenfold mixing up tunes from Ronski Speed, Tom Colontonio and Apogee and plenty of producers not yet on our radar.

“I’ve always played a variety of records from across the board,” Oakenfold said of the shape of the new compilation. “I like melodic music with energy and punch. I can’t think of anything more claustrophobic than being stuck playing one sound.”
