Every now and then the internet comes out with a list of the best/greatest/most eligible DJs in the game – indeed, we’re running the inthemix awards poll right now! – and though it’s Tiesto that can boast the title of Greatest DJ Of All Time, UK mainstay Carl Cox has just been crowned dance music’s most influential DJ.
The news comes from the Global Gathering camp in the UK which polled 2000 festival goers at this past weekend’s festival on their #1 DJ, with the mighty Coxy pulling in a whopping 20% of the votes to be dubbed the most influential force behind the decks.
“Carl Cox is undoubtedly one of the most iconic British DJs of all time,” Global Gathering boss James Algate said of Cox’s achievement. “Oover the past 30 years he has paved the way for dance music to break through genre boundaries and been instrumental in bringing millions on to dancefloors across the globe”.
Hard to argue with Cox as the top pick considering he routinely packs in people wherever he goes and can still hold down a 10 hour set in Ibiza. Bring on Stereosonic, then!
