This summer sees UK great Sasha taking the long haul back to Australia for some New Year’s festivalling, and the DJ is busy working on something special in the lead-up. A seasoned master of the mix compilation format (need we really list the evidence in his corner?), Sasha has been tasked with creating the next Mixmag covermount CD. It should surprise no one that he’s taking to the task with a great deal of care, too. “It’s starting to take a beautiful shape,” was how the man himself put it in a Facebook post.

It’s been an inspiring Northern summer for Sasha, and you can expect that to feed into his Mixmag creation. As well as his usual posts at big-ticket festivals like Global Gathering and South West Four, Sasha took up residency at the supremely decadent Ushuaia Beach Club in Ibiza. His Never Say Never parties have so far hosted guests like Gui Boratto, Ame, Jamie Jones and Steve Bug, and just last week he went back-to-back with Cadenza boss Luciano.

While the covermount tracklisting is still under wraps, Mixmag says the DJ is “making special edits of all the tracks in the mix and he’s been digging deep with labels like DFA and Kompakt”. We’d also wager the CD will include a version of Cut Me Down, Sasha’s recent vocal gem on his burgeoning Last Night On Earth label. Listen below.

Unless you’re taking a trip to the UK, you might have to find a copy of the mix-CD on eBay. It’ll likely be worth it.
