On the last weekend of the English summer, streams of dance fanatics headed for the countryside to get stuck into the Creamfields marathon. Coming a month after that other UK behemoth Global Gathering, Creamfields was heavily stacked with big names, including the Swedish House Mafia commanding its own overflowing tent, The Chemical Brothers and David Guetta headlining the mainstage, and a host of the festival’s regulars like Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Sven Vath.

Third-billed in the Pryda Friends arena was the Essential Mix kingpin himself Pete Tong, so naturally he put together a special broadcast from the sodden grounds in Cheshire. The sets beamed out on Radio 1 were a mixed bunch, including the man you’ll have to hop a plane to see, Eric Prydz, trance vet Judge Jules and hometown hero Eddie Halliwell.
