Following the much-praised 19th edition from Henry Saiz, plenty of eyes are on what the Balance series does next. Speaking to Swiss DJ-producer Deetron about his impending visit for Stereosonic, inthemix learned that it’ll be his name on the cover of Balance 20.
“I have a mix-CD coming up this year,” he reveals. “It’s actually for an Australian company, Balance. It’s going to be number 20 and out towards the end of October. I’ve been given all the room that I need.”
With a sound that never stays confined in one groove or tempo, Deetron says he’s embraced to the series’ ‘trust the DJ’ approach. “From the label side, there are no limits. I did the two mixes to span over different BPMs, different techno and house, vocal tracks and more electronica tracks as well. One CD was mixed with the means of digital technology, and the other one is a pure vinyl mix.”
For those who haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Deetron do his thing across three decks and two CDJs, you’ll get your chance at Stereosonic. “Festivals are a different way of DJing,” he muses. “It’s also a different sound that you play sometimes when you don’t have as much time as in a club. It’s more of a ‘highlights’ set.”
