Radiohead’s love affair with ‘forward-thinking’ bass music continues to blossom, with the band selecting a trio of tastemaker-favourites to open their New York shows this month. Radiohead is set to play Roseland Ballroom on 28 and 29 September and the prodigious Pearson Sound took to Facebook this week to announce that he would be warming up the iconic room along with our man with the Album Of The Week Four Tet (who’s fulfilled these duties before) and NYC beatmaker Falty DL. Yeah, we’d go to that.
Radiohead mouthpiece Thom Yorke has been keeping one foot on murky dancefloors for a while now. He and bandmate Nigel Godrich popped up for a secret DJ set at Glastonbury in June, unleashing the likes of Untold, Pangea and Nathan Fake alongside more surprising selections like Diplo and Felix Da Housecat, and their releases have been following suit.
This month they released a compendium of the remixes from their The King Of Limbs album, featuring the handiwork of bass innovators like SBTRKT, Jamie XX, Shed and Modeselektor. Then there’s all that collaborating with Four Tet, Burial and co. to keep us intrigued into the future.
