On 6 November 2011, Above & Beyond will sum up a landmark year with Anjunabeats Volume 9. Two discs of “predominantly unreleased, exclusive tracks” hand-picked by the label bosses is certainly a tantalising prospect for fans, compounded by the fact that Anjunabeats is enjoying something of a purple patch at the moment.

Speaking to inthemix backstage at the Above & Beyond Sydney show last month, Jono Grant said the hallmark of the label is quality control. “If you let the standards slip and sign anything that you think will sell, or you think the audience will want, then there’s a problem,” he mused. “You’ve got to sign stuff that you really like and would play in your set. That sound has changed over the years, and that’s why the sound the sound of the label isn’t the same as it was. It will continually evolve. It won’t be the same next year.”

A tracklisting is yet to be announced for Anjunabeats Volume 9, but you can expect it to be stacked with a fleet of the label’s brightest stars. Who would you like to see make an appearance?
